A little freehand sketching- Robin!

Hello to all!
I have not drawn any freehand art for quite a while.
This is my first attempt at sketching and colouring a Robin.
The CAS card has been created for my husband.

Materials are:
Stamping card
Faber Castell Polychromos pencils
White gel pen
Black Matt cardstock for base.

Here he is as a work in progress.
You can see the details of my sketch lines.
I added a little more depth and colour to his red breast!

Challenges entered:

We have robins in the garden all year round.
They are particularly attached to my husband, who looks after them very well.
We also have an array of blackbirds etc. Last summer we had 4 huge blackbird chicks in the rose bush. They were massive and reluctant to go forth and fend for themselves.
I think a couple of them have returned for the winter.
We have a huge dominant male blackbird, he is beautiful! We call him Larryson, as we think he is the son of Larry, the blackbird we fed previously.
Enough of my waffle, this has been made for my husband. Hope he likes it!

Happy crafting fun to all!

Your post made me smile...you are as bad as me and Trevor. For months I told Trevor the robin in the garden knew me and came to see me when I was in the garden. He didn't believe me until I had the robin eating mealworms off my hands as the robin was feeding babies at the time. Now Trevor is there every morning waiting for HIS friend to come (my robin). The robin has paired up now and they are the most spoilt robins in the neighbour hood. If I've got my back to the robin in the garden he sings to me to tell me he's there! When the snow was on the ground when I was inside the dining room by the back door he was fluttering his wings outside to attract my attention. I love them. We too have now got blackbirds too...one I call braveheart coz he's followed the robins example and now comes to the door for food. Your sketch is absolutely stunning...you are very talented Laine. X

Wow, you should definitely draw more often, this is amazing!!! I can hardly draw a straight line let alone an animal, your detail is incredible and you capture the texture of the feathers perfectly. Its fantastic for our 'Bold' theme and I bet your husband loved it. Thank you so much for joining us at TIME OUT!
