Our beautiful Sue got married to Harry on 24th August 2019.
It was a fabulous day.
We made loads of projects for the wedding and reception, this page provides details and pictures.
Also included are projects by friends and family who contributed to this joyous day.
The Wedding.
The marriage of Sue and Harry took place at Tymperleys.
This beautiful Tudor building is over 500 years old and stands within its own walled garden.
It is a perfect wedding setting.
Following the ceremony a light lunch and refreshments were served in the rose garden.
Sue did not carry a traditional wedding bouquet.
We made a Wedding Wrist Corsage.
The base was ribbon and a mix of dried flowers, seed heads plus fresh herbs and grass from the garden were added to match her wedding theme and colours.
The Wedding Buttonholes were made using the same flowers and herbs.
The wedding ring and matching engagement ring are from the talented artist Caroline Brook
She’s a Surrey based craftsman/jeweller, who draws influence for her work from the countryside, creating individual and alternative pieces.
Welcome Home to the Bride and Groom.
Following the wedding and lunch at Timperleys
Sue and Harry returned home for an evening reception for family and friends.
The Bride and Groom entered to a rose confetti reception.
The confetti had been collected over the previous four months from various rose climbers in my garden.
It was dried and cut to produce a sweet smelling mix.
There are some lovely pictures in this collage of the tables and detail used to dress the venue.
Harry erected the sail and posts to support the Shepard's Crooks, lights and signs and laid the AstroTurf with Jerry.
Sue made a lot of craft projects for the tables.
The Yum Yum signs were created from wine bottle corks as were the cute Mr and Mrs figures which appear throughout the garden.
The herb pots and flowers look fabulous.
Personalised Chalk Boards.
Each of the detailed blackboard signs was lovingly created by Emma.
Emms used a blackboard to script the
Welcome to the Wedding of Harry and Sue message.
Canvas was painted with blackboard paint and Emms wrote and decorated each sign at her sisters request.
They were a lovely touch and much admired.
Herbs, Flowers and Grasses.
Sue wanted a vintage, shabby/chic feel to the flowers and decorations.
Herbs and grasses were used to provide texture and detail.
Fun cork couple figures were added to the herb collection.
Little herb gardens were created.
Jars decorated with burlap and lace and filled with bunny tail grass and herbs.
Twine filled jars with lace and elements.
Herb signs were printed onto kraft card, die cut and mounted onto pick sticks.
Garden Flowers.
This collage shows some of the flowers used to decorate the gardens, particularly the front.
The colour theme was purple/lilac and white.
I did wander off the track with some of the flowers, but they were so beautiful
Plants were grown from February and despite the variations in the weather, from torrential rain to amazing heat, they did rather well.
Some perennials and grasses were dried and added to the artificial flower vases.
Wedding Table Flowers.
Artificial flowers were used along with herbs, grass, fresh and dried flowers.
Kraft card pots were chalk painted, stamped and decorated.
Paper flowers were made and added to hoops.
Ivy and tea light holders decorate the stairs.
The Cake.
This amazing confection was made by
A four tier semi-naked cake adorned with fresh fruits.
It was absolutely delicious.
Many thanks to Mike and Angela for this stunning creation.
Pinata Wedding Couple.
Material used to make pinata couple:
Bodies: Tubes containing sweets and rainbow paper shredding were created from Crafter's Companion Centura Pearl card. These were decorated with crepe paper roll to create wedding garments.
The children at the evening reception loved these.
Heads: Paper mache construction using balloons and copy paper strips or modelling bandage.
These were covered in several layers of Modge Podge and painted.
The features were added or painted with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers.
I made the nose and ears from plaster bandage.
The heads were then attached to the bodies.
Twine was used to suspend the pinata.
Pinata stick: Covered with twine and decorated in the wedding theme.
Sweet Treats Table.
This was mostly a Sue project. Emma did the signage and I made the little gift bag labels and tags.
It was very popular particularly with younger guests who delighted in filling the sweet bags.
So colourful and eye catching it was a central focus of the afternoon.
The handmade lollipop trees were later donated to local charity.
Cute Cacti.
If you look closely in most of the pictures you will probably spy a cacti lurking somewhere.
The cacti stock was homegrown over the past year or so.
Decorated terrariums, twine covered bottles and pots filled the house and garden.
Mini cacti terrariums were available for guests to take home and Let Love Grow.
Outdoor Lighting.
The lighting at the wedding was magical.
You can see from the pictures above that a lot of thought went into creating a very beautiful effect.
As well as strings and curtains of lights many individual jars and bulb shaped containers were filled with lights and decorated.
The daylight pictures show the jars suspended in the trees and the wrought iron Shepard's Crook hangers that Syd welded to hold the lights.
Each of the hangers has its own shaped heart.
There were seven made single and double hook.
Indoor Decorative Detail.
This board features some of the many projects that Sue and I had been working on.
Lighting, signage, decorated pots and jars were scattered through the house.
As the day grew to an end a cosy and comfortable feel permeated the reception rooms.
Sparklers!
This is such a fun collage.
Sue and I started discussing this idea last November and purchased the extra long sparklers.
Each sparkler had a tag or label as shown in the photographs above.
The Let Love Sparkle labels had an individual hand made match book and striker.
Made for The Perfect Match.
Take Home Treats.
Sue and I loved making the items for the Pick and Mix Party Favours.
Most of the labels, tags and elements shown were handmade.
Sue made the most delicious handmade scented candles.
I made mini shortbread biscuits using the River Cottage recipe.
Handmade boxes contained individual heart shaped fudge.
The cacti terrariums were so popular and quickly went to new homes.
Sue decorated some mini gift bags to collect the take home goodies.
I hope you enjoyed your stroll through this wonderful day and all of the fun we had preparing for this.
Sue had a clear vision of how the event would look and I think she more than achieved her objective.
We would like to thank the following for providing the fabulous photography pieces used in the making of the boards.
Your work has been a delight and a fabulous memory for us all.
